Mother's Day Gift Guide

My mum claims to not be given any presents or special treatment for Mother’s Day. I think, that is not entirely true, therefore I make sure, something small is showing her how grateful I am for everything she has been doing for me. It’s still a challenge since painting a picture or a coupon for making breakfast and vacuum cleaning the house isn’t working anymore. I gathered a few ideas in the picture above, or do I go for a self-made body scrub or just bake a cake? Have you planned something special for your mums?

1. Ladurée macarons
2. Mother’s Day gift card via etsy
3. Le Jardin cocktail napkins from Furbish Studio
4. Munich City Guide for women from my favourite illustrator Kera Till
5. Jo Malone scented candle in wild fig & cassis
6. Pink Himalayan Salt from Fortnum & Mason
7. Pretty gardening tools
8. Star Mela embellished cosmetic bag
9. Diptyque 34 Blvd. St. Germain soap

Topshop x Kate Moss2

One of the original 90s supermodels, icon and muse with a slight addiction to little scandals,  but always true to herself, no matter what everybody else thinks of her – Kate Moss definitely is one of my idols. I don’t share her taste in men (my mum surely is happy about that), but I love her no-fuss Rock ‘n’ Roll meets Boho style. So it’s no surprise, her second collection for Topshop reflects this attitude: fringe, sequins, leather, embroidery, the trend isn’t over yet. The collection is available now, so enjoy shopping! For a sneak peek behind the scenes, watch the video below.

high tea

“Just have a cup of tea” seems to be the British answer to everything –  a very practical approach to problem solving, which I like.  Therefore one of my favourite British habits is having afternoon tea. Calming tea, sandwiches, scones, biscuits and conversations, what else do you need? Since the weather for the Easter holidays turned out to be very nice, I hope for an Easter picnic under the blooming apple trees in my parent’s garden (yes, I know that sounds very kitschy). Here I listed my picks for an outdoor Easter tea party. Happy Easter, everyone!

1. Mariage Frères glass tea pot
2. Tart server from Leif
3. Harrod’s orange marmalade
4. Lindt Easter chocolates
5. Silver tea pot spoons from Bombayduck
6. Pastel dessert plates from Cath Kidston
7. Lemon marmalade biscuits from Fortnum & Mason
8. Vintage tea cup set from the Royal Albert Collection
9. Silver plated monogram tea strainer from Fortnum & Mason
10. Rose petal sugar cubes
11. Bloomy picnic blanket from A.U. Maison
12. Organic Lov Tea Earl Grey

sun protection

Warm and sunny weather finally arrived and I can almost smell summer in the air – the first sunburn of the year is all-inclusive. Therefore a daily moisturiser with SPF is a must-have. If you don’t already use one all year long (UV-rays don’t go into hibernation) it’s time to protect your skin from the dangerous rays. Luckily the time of sticky and thick sun care products vanished. Today’s products are real multi-taskers that revive your skin while providing UV sun protection. Here’s a list of my favourite face moisturisers with SPF:

1. Juice Beauty Tinted Mineral Moisturizer SPF30 with mineral pigments to make your face shimmer. It’s organic with plant oils (coconut, jojoba, grape).
2. Dr. Jackson‘s Natural Products Skin Cream SPF20 with Shea butter and Marula oil to moisturise.
3. Kiehl’s BB Cream, correcting and beautifying skin with vitamin C and SPF 50.
4. NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF30 with algae and all natural botanicals.
6. fresh  Soy Moisturizing Cream with soy proteins, vitamins C and E, rich in amino acids and is enriched with an antioxidant tea complex.

chicken salad3 Surely we all love a fancy cooked dinner, but if you don’t happen to be married to a Michelin-starred chef, the motivation to cook after a long work-day isn’t always easy to find. Therefore I love easy but creative recipes which can be prepared the day before. One of my favourites is the chicken salad sandwich, with lots of healthy ingredients such as apples, yoghurt and cranberries which gives it that special savoury taste.

DSC_0597

You need:
a chicken breast
1/2 cup of dried cranberries
juice of one lime
fresh rosemary
one apple
1 1/2 cup greek yoghurt
salt, pepper and a splash of olive oil

chicken salad

1. Grill the chicken breast in a grilling pan in some olive oil until well done, flavour with salt and pepper and let cool.
2. In the meantime chop the apple, cranberries and rosemary, mix all together with lime juice and greek yoghurt.
3. Chop the chicken as well and add to the mixture, season with salt and pepper.

Enjoy the chicken spread on a slice of rustic toasted bread!

Spring Pastels

Pastels in spring, well, that is not the newest concept you are going to proclaim. But to wear one pastel colour from head to toe without looking like cotton candy is a bit of a challenge. As much as I like the idea of indulging in candy land I prefer to mix one colour with a hint of whites. You can see my favourite looks in soft pink and baby blue above. If this is too much for you, try the trend with just a few matching accessories like in this post from last year. So how daring are you with the all-over look in baby blue, soft pink, light yellow and mint green?

APROPOS men With the opening of APROPOS in Munich, the guys get their first only-men luxury concept store in Germany. APROPOS, with stores for women in Cologne, Hamburg and Duesseldorf, offers a carefully selected variety of THE designer fashion brands such as Valentino, Salvatore Ferragamo, Balmain and Dsqured, just to name a few. And not to forget Tom Ford… Even as a girl you get intuitively drawn towards the soft-as-a-kitten, slightly shimmering fabrics of the Tom Ford suits. I had to seriously ask myself the question if Daniel Craig really is a smart looking guy or if it’s just the aura of his Tom Ford suits he is wearing in the James Bond movies. I actually had to resist the strong urge to pet the suit.

Therefore, girls and guys, have a look at this fantastic concept store where you not just find fashion, but also exclusive beauty products (my suggestion Bois1920) and interior design products. It’s a new heaven for manly gifts.

SAVEORCRAVE I’d been searching for black and white combination heels for a while, but tracking down the right pair proved to be a lot more challenging than I realised. I finally narrowed it down to these two from Tory Burch and ZARA. They both have a still comfortable heel, are elegant but can be worn during the day with a pair of jeans as well. The heel and strap set them apart slightly and I like the golden details on the Tory Burch version a bit more. But the difference in price is worth thinking it through and go for the ZARA one. Which one would you choose?

Copper Accents

images via Pinterest 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

Keep your eye out for copper this year. This metal is taking the spotlight in a fresh, almost rose-gold, hue. Not only in fashion, but also in interior design, copper (or rose-gold) is the new gold! Copper gives your home a more sophisticated look than bright gold and creates a warmer atmosphere than silver. I was surprised how only small copper accents can make a huge impact. Find out here how to combine the metal or on my Pinterest board where I compiled my favourite findings on how to style a room with copper accents.

1. Copper and soft pink
Yes, it is very modern but works out very well

2. Copper, black and white
A bit more traditional and less daring. Creates a warm atmosphere around the cool black and white.

3. Copper and greens
Copper and dark warm greens match perfectly. The copper intensifies the greens which makes it also a good choice for planters.

4. Copper clusters
For a bigger impact cluster the metal accessories. It is most easily with pendant lamps, my all-time favourite being Tom Dixon’s mirror ball, but also works with candle holders, bowls in different sizes etc.

These are my favourite copper items:
